FDNY relocates Woodhaven’s Engine 293

untitledThe FDNY is being forced to relocate Engine Company 293 from their home, currently located at 89-40 87th Street in Woodhaven, to 101-02 Jamaica Avenue, the space Engine 294 and Ladder 143 occupy.

According to State Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr., the temporary relocation will begin Tuesday, December 6, 2016 and last approximately 18 months. The move is due to a major, necessary total renovation and additional floor at Engine 293’s current location.

The firehouse was in danger of closing back in 2003, but the community fought to keep it open and won.
