Work begins on SBS implementation for Woodhaven Boulevard

The New York City Department of Transportation officially began work on the controversial Select Bus Service proposal for Woodhaven and Cross Bay boulevards.

The first phase of work is to implement safety improvements at 85th Road and 89th Avenue. Those improvements include: widening the concrete medians to shorten pedestrian crossing distances; installing pedestrian refuge islands; upgrading traffic signals and lighting and refurbishing lane markings.
