The Woodhaven Cultural and Historical Society held its 25th annual Festive Holiday Celebration last Wednesday at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Woodhaven.
Hundreds of people attended the celebration and enjoyed a holiday lunch accompanied by entertainment and gifts.
Woodhaven Historical Society executive director Ed Wendell also announced the group received a grant from the Queens Council for the Arts, which will go towards an art program for adults next year.
The society already works with local schools P.S. 60 and P.S. 97 by dropping off art supplies for the children. But the new program would give adults the opportunity to show off their creative sides.
The program will be a series of eight classes instructed by artist Natalia Borgia from Beaver Tattoo, a local tattoo shop. Each class will center around painting local scenery. Six classes will be held at Emanuel United Church of Christ, while two classes will be out in the field.
