Maria Thomson, a longtime leader for the Woodhaven community, has passed away.
In addition to her role as executive director of the Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation and the Woodhaven Business Improvement District, Thomson was a member of Community Board 9 and wrote weekly columns about Woodhaven’s businesses for local papers, including the Leader Observer.
The wake will be held at Walker Funeral Parlor (87-34 80th Street) in Woodhaven on Sunday and Monday from 2-5 p.m. and later from 7-9 p.m.
Burial Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 16th 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas The Apostle Church (87th Street & 88th Avenue)
As news broke regarding her death, the community and elected officials paid respect to Thomson across social media.
