Thousands of community members enjoyed the annual Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festival on Sunday, September 30th.
The event was organized by the Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation (GWDC) and took place on Jamaica Avenue between 80th Street and Woodhaven Boulevard.
Entertainment ranged from live bands, carnival games and children’s rides to pony rides, a gymnastics showcase and food from around the globe.
The late Maria Thomson, who was also the former GWDC executive director and former WRBA president, was an instrumental part of the Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festival. Her successor, Lisa Komninos, said she knew Thomson would be proud of the community joining together for a day of fun.
“The Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festival was a great success,” said Komninos. “Maria had a big part on our street fair day and always will for years to come.”
