Hunt for Wineberries and more along the QueensWay

Join Steve Brill, known as “Wildman”, as he forages along the QueensWay and Forest Park for wineberries and other unique fruits this Saturday, July 27. The event is in partnership with Friends of Queensway.

The abandoned railroad line, a popular backdrop for Instagram selfies tagged at Forest Park, is filled with so many things to forage that you will forget about your iPhone!

Although wineberries are at their peak right now, the season’s first blackberries and the cornelian cherry are also sure to be discovered! The burdock, found most often in expensive health food stores, are also still growing and are full of detoxifying components!

Other expected discoveries along the tour are the invasive East Asian wild vegetable known as the Asiatic Dayflower and chicken mushrooms!

The 2-hour tour beings at 9 AM at the NE corner of Woodhaven Blvd. and Forest Park Dr. in front of Victory Field. The suggested donation is $20 for adults and $10 for children. For more information on this foraging adventure and more, visit Wildman’s site
